Vaaling essence monsters

I am farming essences and keep a pile of vaal orbs in my inventory to corrupt them.

The process itself is very difficult. You have to be very precise when hovering your mouse over the vaal orb symbol below the essence modifiers. But even if the vaal orb interface shows up on screen when hovering over it, the essence "prison" just breaks with one single click when trying to apply the vaal orbs. I cant even tell if the vaal orb was applied, the essences dont change is all I can tell, but I am still losing my vaal orbs.

I don't know if this is intentional, because it gives me a jump scare every time :D

There are multiple effect to the vaal orb on essence, one of them is to free the monster instantly. So your vaal orb defenitly work as intended.

Essence imprisoned monsters
(?%) No change.
(?%) Essence monsters are freed immediately
(?%) Add an additional random essence
(?%) Reroll all essences, transforming them into the same tier of essences
(?%) Upgrade an essences to their next tier, or upgrade perfect essences into a random Corrupted Essence.
