Demon Form Design Feedback
The 0.3 changes to Demon Form have left it in a worse spot than 0.2, and 0.1. The means of mitigating the scaling damage taken are essentially the same as Blood Mage, but with none of the upside that comes with regen scaling for that ascendancy, and I believe that the skill has been left with less identity and few upsides. In order to utilise the skill at its maximum, it requires your entire passive tree to be committed to as much recoup as possible, and restricts and limits your passive options compared to most other ascendancies.
While the 0.3 changes allow for weapons to be used, only at the very extreme end of the game will this be better for people, versus the early power that was offered to players previously, and only when using it with Mastered Darkness. For the large majority of players, the skill would have been far more enjoyable with the previous stats that were given in lieu of a weapon. In terms of the skill having an identity, the pairing with Infernal Pact is essential, but this is where regeneration scaling comes off poorly, versus other mechanics in the game that require regeneration scaling. Demon Form would benefit from having some unique options available to it, that truly separate it from the ascendancy. These could be: - Unique skills (Melee Claws Attack, Fire Breath, Fire Orb Projectile, etc) and shifting into Demon Form to use those skills (eg. Druid Skills?) - The ability to use any weapon in demon form, opening up melee options, and making the benefits of the form action speed and general damage scaling - Mastered Darkness affecting the regen scaling required The Druid isn't out yet, so it's impossible to understand how those shapeshifts will work with the skills available, but I would imagine that Demon Form currently sits at odds with how Druid shapeshifting works, and perhaps lining these philosophies up would be better for it. All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost. Last bumped on Sep 8, 2025, 9:59:59 AM

i felt the biggest draw back for demon from is the downside of damage overtime which cannot be controlled if uncapped.
I think it will be nice for mastered darkness we can control maximum demon flame we get (e.g. just use the +- button and allow us to set a max demon flame). then we can put heavy investment into life regen to gain as much cast speed and damage bonus as we can afford. this may however turn demon form build more into stats stacking |
