Multithread = thread - 1, quick fix for hardlocking PC

GGG please just do a quick hot fix to stop hard locking PCs. In the options we can choose multi-thread. Just have multi thread mean (number of threads/cores - 1) so our PCs don't hard lock.
We all love your game. Users are downloading separate programs or have to configure their systems to do this, so they can keep playing your game. Why not just do this to solve the problem now while a permanent fix is investigated. That'll be 1,000 points to purchase more bag space, and pets for consulting services, you are welcome. I have multithreading enabled and I've never had this problem before, nor have I heard people using programs to make alterations. I've got a 10 year old i7 CPU too.
