Plague bearer changes with acolyte/acolyte issues

I must have missed where the damage of plague bearer got changed from chaos damage to phys damage. It still does decent damage; the problem is it longer wants me to play as an acolyte of chayula, why wouldnt i just play as a ranger? the entire idea was getting poison nodes on the tree and the class has increased chaos damage, it's really bad.
