Well of Souls problem

A wand I threw into the well of souls had its original mods changed. I'm not sure if that's supposed to be possible or not, I've not used the Well often. Never had a problem with it before today. Is that something I should be concerned over, or a normal occurrence?

The wand was originally about 110 spell damage, 70 chaos damage, +2 to level of all chaos spell skills, 15% increased cast speed, and +15 Intelligence. After having been thrown into the well, the spell damage was lowered to 73, and it gained 16% damage as extra lightning damage.
