The Trial of Sekhemas
Ok so, I just did my last trial to get my last ascendancy points.
And I didn't enjoy a bit of it, I used to LOVE doing the late game Lab in POE1 and the reasons were, fun boss fights + lots and LOTS of rewards. It felt great doing the Lab and running it multiple times. My problem with the Trial of Sekhemas is, it does not feel rewarding at all, there is no drop no special side rooms to explore nothing gets out of it. I'm just doing it for the ascendancy points. My other problem with it are the afflictions, while most of the boons aren't that game changing, many afflictions can simply ruins you run, it feels imbalanced and frustating. And while the last run is extremly long it is maddening having it ruined at near end because of a random affliction. I love the concept, and relics feels nice, would even be fun having relics for core gameplay, but the whole process feels like a chore. Last bumped on Sep 8, 2025, 12:10:55 AM

It's absolutely atrocious game design that would make any student of game design fail their class.
- 1 hour runbacks on failure - Each attempt requires an access token - Access tokens can't be target farmed, only rng - You are burdened with afflictions for no reason. Actively making your game experience worse - You need to either earn or buy boons which often enough they come with an affliction. - Afflictions can just straight up brick your run entirely. ("You have no armor/evasion/es", "every time you gain an affliction, gain another") - You aren't automatically rewarded with loot when successfully finishing it. Instead you are required to additionally collect keys. - Relics earned that would help you in the trial can't be used immediately but only on next attempt - The game mode forces you into a no hit playstyle, de-emphasizing any defensive gear/setup. It's bad. |

" And what level of "difficulty" would be right for you? How many people would you let through that precious gate of yours? Back to the thread at hand: This is still my single biggest gripe in PoE2, and has been since the beginning - something as important as your ascendancy points should not be buried under layers of randomness in modes not even "native" to ARPGs. To me that is a failure of game design from top to bottom, left to right and front to back. And despite making fun of the to be expected "game too easy" clowns trolling every feedback thread, I do think both trials aren't necessarily difficult, they are just tedious and straight out not fun. |

" Difficulty is fine sorry. And they are fun to me and if you can't do it than sorry you aren't getting that power same thing in Lab. Dys an sohm Rohs an kyn Sahl djahs afah Mah morn narr Last edited by Coconutdoggy#1805 on Sep 6, 2025, 11:17:18 AM

Yeah I find the Trials pretty easy too, but that's partly because I just wait several levels to go do them and buy honor resist relics from trade. Also used to the mechanic from PoE1.
But overall it's long and tedious and not particularly fun or exciting. Nothing quite as draining as somehow failing an ascension you've been in for over an hour and losing everything. |

" oh I do agree, 95% of it is WAY TOO EASY. Until you get the wrong affliction and it ruin it. My problem is, it's not even based off talent, or well built characters. it's just RNG and you pray you don't get a wall of bad afflictions that ruin your entire run in a single row. That's how bad it is. and you didn't even read. I'm not complaining about the difficulty, I'm complaining about how boring it is and how unrewarding it feel. Lab in POE1 felt amazing to run every single time, it was great for currency drop and loot. You felt progressing each time. My run wasn't ruined by difficulty or because I was careless, my run was ruined by an entire row of undodgable afflictions that made it impossible to progress pass that. it ain't fun, doesn't feel right, feel frustating. Also redoing the WHOLE 1.2.3. trial to do the 4th one, knowing there is no good loot or currency or anything fun to fight there makes it the worst. " You don't get the wrong affliction you just get another affliction that's less punishing. But most of you don't know how to do that apparently. Dys an sohm
