Blasphemy aura bug

The spirit gem blasphemy is bugged for me.
The gem doesn't work (it says missing socketed skill) and initially I couldn't activate it

I've searched online and this video describes the bug perfectly.

My character has 210 spirit and the gem only requires 30 spirit + 60 for any socketed curse.

Common fixes that I've tried that do not work:
1. Opening the skill panel and selecting which weapon set to use the gem on

Even when I do this and make sure my weapons are locked to both weapon sets, the gem still does not work (I even ticked both weapon sets for the gem to be used on)

After switching weapon sets the gem is able to be activated however
when the gem is "active" my spirit is still capped and walking near enemies does not apply my socketed curses.

After deactivating the 'activated' gem, the same 'Missing Socketed Skill' message pops up right after

2. Engraving a new blasphemy gem


3. Making sure the socketed curse is atleast 1 level below the blasphemy gem
