leopolds applause / questions about pen

I don't know if these gloves are new or if they were already in the game, but they have a line that says "your hits can penetrate elemental resistances down to a minimum of -50%". now they changed the pen support gems and they now say "hits from supported skills ignore enemy fire resistance". so if you combine those, with pen on the tree, does the gem essentially reduce monster res to zero and then the gloves are letting your pen go into the negative, or is that not actually how the interaction would work? does ignore res mean the same as zero and then pen can still apply further?

I believe the gems set it to zero and it cannot be modified. Even if they had negative resistance from other methods, it would still be treated as zero.

Normally elemental penetration can only reduce resistances to 0 and not go negative, the gloves allow you to break that rule.

wouldn't this be pretty busted? possibly even better than rakiatas?? I don't have enough boss invites right now to go try it out with and without them, but it sounds pretty good to my baby poe brain lol.

Afaik, ignore elemental resistance doesnt go well with leopold because it ignores both positive and negative so no matter if you go into negatives it will be ignored.

This is the reason why Beacon of Azis and leopold was a bad combo in 0.2.
