Suddenly 0.3 goes bananas

When entering town or sometimes when changing location 0.3 goes into vic 20 mode, dropping graphics to ridiculously low levels and a framerate of 3-4.

Only way is to restart the game and it's back to normal. For a while.

I didn't have this problem in 0.2.

What i have done so far:
Cleared cache folder
Set max cache to 100GB in Nvidia control panel
Set audio channels to medium

None of these things help, it seems to be a fundamental bug in 0.3.

Anyone else experiencing this?
Any tips?

I had this in act 3 drowned city. Like I was playing in an acid trip. Lots of strange performance issues this season
Why are you setting your cache to 100gb? Does your graphics card support 100gb of memory?

A cache is basically a storage area to preload assests so it doesn't have to load them later, this avoids load screens and jumping as new assests are loaded.

Setting 100gb means you're setting outside your offset and the game doesn't know which textures to load, so it loads basics assest to not crash.

FYI, this is completely incorrect. Shader cache is the amount of hard drive space the nvidia driver is allowed to use to cache shaders. Setting this to 100gb is fine, as long as he has at least that much hard drive space available.

Its actually recommended to increase the cache size if you have the space, since cached shaders means your gpu doesn't have to recompile them every time you load the game.
In the Act 4 town I can be there then something happens and it's like 3fps. Going anywhere else my performance returns to normal. That's the only thing I've had happen like this.

One time when it was happening, I opened the performance monitor and according to that everything was fine (lol?). It showed a normal frame rate, good latency etc That's certainly not what I was seeing.
Thanks for replies! I got the suggestion from the human well of wisdom itself; reddit.

I just followed the recommendation even though they seemed ass backwards, after trying every reasonable thing like adjusting graphics settings.

I have restored the Nvidia shader cache size to unlimited. And yes, there is plenty of space, around 3TB free.

I believe this hiccup introduced in 0.3 affects some of us regardless of settings.
