Shield build for warrior that is tanky and n00b friendly

I had tried warrior last Friday, there was a build on maxroll for it. But I think since it used two handed mace, I had next to no survivability, I was dying all the time. I have since switched to Lightning Arrow Deadeye and the game is way easier, even before I got a big damage boost, it's just way easier to survive as range.

I still want to try warrior, but I think I'd need a good leveling build that uses shield for it to work for me. Anyone know of one?

Two handed mace can have some decent survivability later on, through life leech, gaining life on hit, or gaining life on kill, and/or passive regen.

Armor stacking is now viable as long as you stay mobile.

However, some aspects of abyss encounters can be quite nasty, which a lot of hazards being spawned.

With that said, a common shield build is thorns + armour break + resonating shield. You mostly ignore stun unless you want to boneshatter, let enemies hit your shield while you break their armor and get lots of thorns damage. You will have to pay attention to your stun build up meter, above your flasks, to prevent getting heavy stunned.

You can also aim to try out the new warcry, Fortifying Cry, which improves shield bash, shield charge and possibly resonating shield (unsure about resonating).

Early levels, you want to use bone shatter. You can attempt to prime stuns with shield bashes, basic hits, earth quake or shockwave totem.

Then you can transition into shield charge + boneshatter.

Eventually you can get resonating shield + boneshatter.

Take advantage of the new support gems like Brink, or Vanguard.

Magma barrier can also work. It will trigger during a shield charge which is neat, but has an 8s recharge timer now.
after many hours gameplay, you will happen to found:
the best defense is kill/disable enemy before they hit you, even see you.
shiled is not enough.
Warrior is good with 2 hand mace as long as you stack armour and have enough skill points to get the armour applies to elemental damage nodes.

Armour applying to elemental damage works a lot better than you might think.
It pretty much nullifies any of the map mobs the gives the mobs added elemental damage, they are only dangerous on elites and bosses that actually do that damage type normally.

At level 76 on my titan normal mobs do no damage to me at all unless they do poison or chaos damage.
