Corpse explosions are possibly the worst designed aspect of this game.

I have never played POE1 so I have no frame of reference but even if it was worse in POE1 that still doesnt justify how awful it is in POE2.

8 months ago I played this game and I loved so much of it, and I really wanted it to be my new main game. But the amount of times I have died to an exploding corpse and the amount of resources I have been locked out of because of it has tilted me to the point where I just quit.

Now I came back 8 months later and it feels like literally nothing has changed. They still do an absurd amount of damage, they are still telegraphed horribly, and they still stick around for waaaay too long. If you really wanted exploding corpses in your game, fine, whatever makes you happy. But atleast be able to balance it in a way that doesnt make people literally ragequit.

Make clear indication of the explosion range, reduce their dmg (by like 70%), and make them disappear much faster because right now im spending a god awful amount of time just watching and waiting for a corpse to explode on its own because Im not risking dying again and getting kicked out of an opportunity to gain resources.

And this is only one aspect of the game. I havent even talked about the absurd amount of damage a lot of white mobs are doing in the late game. Or how awful it is to play melee because you cant properly do a combo without white mobs beating a living hell out of you, because for some sadistic reason they hit faster than the player.

If you wanted a DS experience, you have horribly failed GGG. BS mobs work in DS because you are fighting 1-3 at a time, not 50 with an insane amount of clutter on your screen making it impossible to clearly see a tiny arrow projectile. Or a small red blob on the floor that oneshots me when I get close to it.

So yea, I guess Ill just quit again because theres clearly no interest in changing anything about these issues even tho I see a bunch of other people complainging about the same things I have listed.

I would say sorry for the way I wrote this but at this point the game has frustrated me to the point where I just dont care and wanted to leave my 2 cents here before leaving.

Enemy corpse explosions from monsters in POE1 were changed a few patches ago to have a flat amount of damage instead of scaling off of the monster's life (subject to map modifiers). They also received a big pulsing red/orange icon with sound effect. Previously they had a tiny dark red flame from the originating spot and no sound effect and pretty much 1 shot anyone in most situations.
