Amununu's Gaze / Sprinting .... The sad implementation of new mechanics
Amununu's Gaze (1% movement speed per 15 spirit) and then our favorite line of text... "Other modifiers to movement speed Do Not Apply"
This means that using this item to get a measly 40% movement speed (from a WHOPPING 600 spirit) also means that you no longer interact with the sprint mechanic. The TLDR here for those not wanting to read.... ****Why put this item in the game and not allow you to also use sprint?*** Why add mechanics if they become useless in this case? **** PLEASE RECONSIDER GGG - Allow sprint to not simply count as a movement speed increase. Make it it's own character state (or something), I think everyone can agree at this point, that movement speed is easily one of the most powerful stat that a character at ANY point in the game can have. That's not even taking into consideration how much it is damn near mandatory now with the abyssal league and the CONSIDERABLE increase in area style attacks the player is having to avoid, the sheer number of enemies that will charge you, and the ground/mine attacks that must be avoided in the entire league. NOT TO MENTION --- The hidden armor debuff to movement speed! I would go as far to say that this league, has made movement speed a TOP priority for any character. Hence, the absolute domination and overabundance of deadeye/ranger classes in the ladder. The game design has starved players of movement, and now it is being designed around mechanics that require movement to counteract. (This is of course ignoring that ability to just stack so much damage that all mechanics become null) ENTER SPRINT - Wow, they actually threw everyone a bone. An actual mechanic to increase movement speed outside of strictly being a ranger. And I have to say I love it. I think most people would agree. SO WHY THEN are we programming in ways to supplement the increase to danger with movement, if ONLY THEN TO MAKE THEM INCOMPATIBLE? Why does sprinting not work with Amununu's Gaze? Finally adding in a way for caster style characters, or creating build enabling ways to build characters with spirit, and then making it incompatible with sprinting? I don't understand the design choice. Even conservatively, in this league you can obtain absurd levels of movement speed in boots, rhoa, or heck just roll a ranger, but we make a steep increasingly average buff like 1% per 15 spirit (that means to max out at 40% movement you would need 600 spirit), incompatible with sprint? The amount of investment into this rune even just to reach 30% which can be found already on boots, is crazy, 500 spirit! 40% from 600 spirit means you'd have to realistically build specifically with the intention of maxing your spirit out. I am not understanding the design decision to input sprint in the game, if only to make its design null to this specific soul core. Last bumped on Sep 13, 2025, 1:04:06 PM

Completely agree with this. It’s also not super clear that sprint is impacted by this affix, would have been nice to know that before investing in it.

The problem is... GGG has decided that ALL features must have a drawback.
Forcing you to balance the builds and deal with drawbacks.... I think this is a very dumb mindset. Why cant we all have positive outcomes from gear and we all determine what positives we want from our own specific build??? Why implement drawbacks AT ALL>>??? Stop adding new stuff and removing other things at the same time... You call these things BUFFS while you are still NERFING |
