Hybrid version English/French Localization (or other languages/english)

Hi GGG,

First of all, thank you for all the work you’re putting into Path of Exile 2. It already feels like an incredible game, and I’m excited to see how it evolves during Early Access.

I’d like to share a suggestion that I believe could really help the French-speaking community (and maybe other languages too).

Most guides, builds, and community discussions around PoE are in English. When playing the game fully in French, it’s often hard to find the right terms when looking up information online, since item and skill names don’t always match what’s written in guides. On the other hand, playing entirely in English can be too difficult for those who aren’t confident with the language.

That’s why I think a “hybrid” localization mode could be very useful:

Keep names of items, gems, skills, passives, and keywords in English

Keep descriptions and explanations in French

Why this could help:

French players can easily follow guides and resources written in English.

The game stays accessible and clear for those less comfortable with English.

It reduces confusion between the community’s vocabulary and the in-game translations.

I think this kind of option would make Path of Exile 2 even more friendly to the French community, and it might also inspire similar solutions for other languages.
Thanks for reading, and again, congrats on everything you’re building with PoE2—it’s looking amazing so far!

How does in-game search work when the game is not set to English ?

P.S.: A more realistic solution is probably to have the wikis also feature other languages.

That’s exactly why I suggested keeping only the “names” (items, gems, skills, passives, keywords...) in English, and everything else in French (or other languages).
The most important part for accessibility is the tooltip explanations – the ones underlined with dotted lines.

So for example:
The word “Overpower” would remain in English, but when you hover over it, the full explanation would appear in French.

That way:
French players can still understand mechanics thanks to localized explanations, and at the same time, they can use the exact English keywords to follow guides, wikis, or community discussions without confusion.

It’s really a “best of both worlds” setup.
