Can you play with two separate accounts in cooperative play?

Can you play with two separate accounts when playing cooperatively?
I know before it was said that you can only play with one account and make two different characters there. Have there been any new updates where each player can load into their own separate accounts but play on the same game client with two different controllers? Or is this feature not available?
