Do you have to increase the number of links on a gem for it work on Called Shots?

Currently my Called Shots has:

Called Shots
|
Voltaic Mark
|_Mana Leech
|_Magnified Area I

However beneath it in the skills list is:

Voltaic Mark
|_Mana Leech

Does that mean that even though I have also linked Magnified Area I, the Voltaic Mark being cast by Called Shots only has Mana Leech?

Do I need to use a Lesser Jeweler's Orb on Voltaic mark for Magnified Area I to work?
