Overpowered bosses (Act 4): Lythara and the Vaal Priests (zelina)
Hello,
Issue with Lythara: By the time I get her to half life, the entire arena is one huge dps towards me. There is not a pixel without some sort of projectile or circle or stampeding bear in the ENTIRE arena. At this point, you will never be able to regenerate any energy shield. I ran into a soft lock where I couldn't respec ( no drops -> no money) or improve my skills (no drops -> no gems) or my items ( no drops -> no items). Thankfully, someone was able to help me out with this boss, it still took many attempts. Issues with Zelina and her little buddy: - Very resistant to damage - Constantly full heals - Applies oneshotting bleeding that is NOT ANNOUNCED and cannot be dodged, draining all your life flasks - Beams are oneshotting everything and a little too fast moving for old people such as myself Things like those should have been found out in testing. Really, really should. Tweak the characters your QA team works with to include builds with realistic items. From my experience with the current campaign on a new character, here are the limitations: - Have half of the abilities underlevelled and with only 1 support gem - Have all other abilities at a max of 2 supports - Have a gear whose requirements are 25 levels below the current level and sport max 2 stats that are of mediocre benefit As far as I'm concerned, I'm taking a break. Fix it fast or you'll lose players. Greetings, Me Last bumped on Sep 9, 2025, 5:32:35 AM

Agreed on Lythara, poor arena design, or overboard design on the kit of the boss.

to added my comments on Lythara
I am struggling with her as well my energy shield doesn't start Regen fast enough to build up any kind of buffer again and the maelstroms will be too stacked for me to maneuver as well. -No announcement either on the maelstrom spear so i cant stop and try positioning myself to say keep them in one area. if this is a bug needs addressed if not consider adding a voice line indicator desperately. - her poison damage seems over tuned. -otherwise shes currently locking me from progressing. |

Lythara is a big figure eight arena. It seemed that if you ran around like a chicken you would trigger wisps that were on her side. Everytime you triggered one she got more powerful. Just had to keep the fight tight and put on some chaos resist. I only had 1k sheet dps when i got through her.
The Vaal twin life sharers you just have to give them the code Doryani gave you and then you could skip the fight completely. But if not, you had to do big dps by having red zapping lasers chase you into them. You need just a little bit of regen or recovery and then settle in for a war of attrition fight. Maybe use Flasks that gain charges. It was the last fight so it was a nice little challenge. |

I play a summoner. I don't have a say in the matter where she runs off to.

definition of unfun boss.
By the time she reaches 10% HP it was like 5 maelstorm with all projectiles everywhere. I played monk so how tf do I hit her?? Last edited by CoffeeBreak#8110 on Sep 2, 2025, 3:44:28 AM

But it's just like all the others, isn't it? Just a tad more? So many boss fights have extreme area denial. They all feel samey to me. I have a hard time naming a boss fight I find actually enjoyable.
It's a mysteray to me why they keep talking about 'meaningful combat', but design encounters that are basically just a tide of mobs trying to overwhelm you (especially in Act 4 + Interludes, plus the Abyssals) or '95% of the floor is lava' which doesn't really cater to skill combos and also makes a lot of those skills that activate after a delay quite worthless. In both scenarios AoE builds have a massive advantage, espcially since you don't have to aim, as there's also quite a number of enemies that teleport around ... | |
For me, at Zolin and Zelina, I had been using a lighting arrow build. I switched to just the plain old bow shot with some supports to up the damage, and that made the fight much easier because then I could make sure I was damaging only Zelina until she was dead, then focus on Zolin. Since Zolin doesn't trigger the lasers unless he's missing health, I didn't have to worry about dodging those and Zelina at the same time.

from what i could tell, 1 guy stays ranged and siphons HP from other guy to heal Hp. The other one bum rushes you and applies strong bleeds which melee should be fine with, but is pretty strong against ranged users.
i just kill one guy and he siphons the hp of the other. quite a strong combo. i would say the one bum rushing you and applying bleeds needs a speed reduction. he runs fast, and his ranged attack has a decently long range. Chroniccomplainerreviews.wordpress.com
