24h Gameplay Review.
Title says it all, just crossed 24 hours of playtime, hit maps, completed campaign(with a struggle) so figured id share what i enjoyed and havnt enjoyed thus far. I will Premise, i was playing ED/C till lvl 58 thn swapped to Chaos Fireballs Blood mage.
LIKES -Act 4 is such a cool concept, essentially giving full freedom to choose the path you want to go, bouncing between the islands was really cool. I almost enjoyed the Interlude filler for act 5 as well, revisiting the zones in a new light instead of just redoing act 1-3 was quite enjoyable. -Bosses where mostly enjoyable, had good mechanics and werent too punishing overall. The Mini bosses spread out throughout act 4 where also fun. -New supports make you look at the game differently, and i even found myself straying from the build iwas following to try something that sounded more fun. I havnt had much exposure to the new unique supports but the ones i need for my build sound very enjoyable as well. -The new trade is just awesome, nothing more to say, 1 click purchasing is amazing, the gold cost early on is a little rough, as gold isnt plentiful in campaign, but still amazing system. DISLIKES -It seems GGG has yet to find a sweet spot for player movement and monster movement. Everything past act 3 onwards still feels like the same issue we've been complaining about since 0.1, the Player is playing poe2, and the monsters are playing poe1. -Combos, they're fun to do, if you ever get the chance. ALmost every monster, moving faster than you, can interupt every spell you cast, leading to alot of frustrating deaths. When you're casting 2-3 abiltiies to wipe mobs out and theyre charging you at poe1 quicksilver flask speeds, it becomes a dodgeroll battle that isnt enjoyable. -Some new Bosses- Most the bosses where enjoyable, a few, not so much. The Siren, spends way too long invulnerable where thr fight feels more like an AFK Simulator. Azmari is the worst offender, when trying to do a combo build on bosses, he does not stop moving, or attacking, to the point where he feels more like an Elden ring boss than a PoE2 boss. -Zone Size, Even with Sprinting, the zones feel just so unnecessarily massive. Alot of random dead ends that lead to nothing, and general just empty huge zones which could be scaled down by almost 50% and still feel large, it didnt feel needed and felt more like a way to drag the campaign length out without adding any substance. -Boss Arena's- This is more for the little Mini bosses, but it seems to be a reoccuring theme, where the arena is tiny, and the boss does huge sweeping AoE attacks which are next to impossible to dodge because theres no where to dodge. Almost feels purposefully designed to force you to take damage. -Abyss, Abyss is interesting enough that i don't avoid it, but the Rares feel super over tuned. In Maps(and acts) i can kill most rares in 2 rotations of my combo, sometimes 3. Abyss rares takes 5-6 rotations, all the while dodging and weaving for my life because they also absolutely rip you to pieces, havnt explored the mechanic into maps much yet but early on so far it looking like ill avoid it until my damage is way higher. -Crahses, The game crahses constantly, which blanks your entire mini map out and resets it entirely, which has made pathing around the game and maps super frustrating. Overall, im on the fence with this update. The work put in is quality, but reoccuring issues that just seem to constantly be ignored are making it harder and harder to want to put hours into the game, especially at this point, where each map is taking 15-20 minutes each because trying to actually do the combo's GGG wants you to do is so hard with how the monsters are right now. " That made me laugh. They are mean and ready to rip you apart. Worst part is when there's 3 of them chasing you and then you are doing map with Temporal curse while one of the rares regen HP. I guess the worst part after beating them is they didn't even drop anything useful. It was a long fight. Fun but I feel I should be rewarded beyond the challanege. Then on the other room I opened a chest and got a better drop lol. |
