"Zoomers" x "Souls-like" = not compatible
Zoomers just wanna go fast, 1-shot everything before they can even see an attack animation, and teleport straight to the next pack of mobs, in order to get that sweet sweet non-stop dopamine fix.
If you try and take that away, forcing a slow/methodical "Souls-like" experience instead, Zoomers ain't gonna like it (too slow = boring = zzz). If you make the game more "zoomy", then "Souls-like" enjoyers ain't gonna like it (too easy = boring = zzz). Atm we have both, due to wild skill imbalances, then neither side ends up being satisfied. Zoomers will be bored if just a handful of skills are "viable" for zooming. Souls-like enjoyers will be annoyed that there is an "easy-mode" option which requires far less effort/skill than what they are putting in. GGG needs to pick a side, communicate it, stick with it, then design/balance the whole game around it (and NOT be afraid of mid-patch nerfs if something is obviously giga-busted within hours/days of season launch. I am not saying nuke it into the ground - I am just saying tone it down a bit, so it is more comparable to other skills). You leave a skill 10x more broken that everything else in the game and Season is DoA. Last bumped on Aug 31, 2025, 8:32:00 PM

" The skill imbalance is just baffling, and it makes me have no idea what the devs actually want the game to be. You can zoom zoom as a bunch of builds, turning the game into D4/D3/LE/POE1, but then if you play a bad skill, the game is so slow and difficult you might as well be playing a different game entirely. They need to figure out where they want the game to be and actually balance the game, 3 seasons in a row of this gulf between build balance is not ok. It's downright insulting at this point. |

why pick?
'zoomers' will always choose the meta to zoom zoom 'souls-like' as you put it will never play meta for that exact reason. I see no problem with making the game that has both options, but poe2 still needs some adjusting without making the game easy- which is happening very fast btw |
