Is it possible do NOT shield bash after Raise Shield?

In this demo clip I'm trying to rolling slam after each block

Raise Shield description says it would bash on release so I expected we could control whether you intentionally bash by releasing or press another skill


It seems like any action forces a bash. which feels bad
