Blackflame covenant - chaos or fire nodes?

There are +7% chaos damage nodes next to blackflame covenant.

But why would i pick them, as I can get bigger numbers (12%) with fire nodes?

Assuming now that I only play chaos damage created by fire skills.

Is there some logic here I'm missing.

In PoE 2, conversion is one way. Once you fully convert something to a different damage type it no longer scales with its original damage type
Tried it out, zero damage from fire or elemental damage nodes.

Damage increase from spell damage + chaos damage nodes.

I would like to add its not about the individual small nodes. Since the larger nodes are usually stronger, one can see the small nodes as a kind of pathing cost to the larger node. So yes, there are 3 nodes only giving 7% chaos damage, but the 4th node afterwards gives 29% increased chaos damage and reduces chaos resistance by 3%.

True, but the same applies also to 10% spell damage nodes. There is a juicier +30% spell damage (with 5% cast speed penalty) in the end.
