BlackFlame Convenant and Contagion Question

If Blackflame covenant converts fire damage to chaos damage, and makes ignites deal chaos damage, would contagion then spread those ignites?

No because Contagion spreads 'debuffs' not 'status effects'.

Are you REALLY sure?
when you hover over ignite it says it is an "Ailment" and when you hover over Ailment it states that ailments are a type of "Debuff"... |

Disappointing, and I honestly think this should be fixed. An ignite that deals chaos damage is a chaos damage DOT debuff, I think this is the most straight forward interpretation. Also, if you can proliferate ignites with contagion, what is the harm? That just sounds like good design.
