The Forum Does Not Gracefully Handle Obnoxiously Long Strings of Text (Without Spaces)

I recently became aware of this issue in the following thread;

Map Device Error With Scarabs

The OP contained a 368 character plaintext link, which didn't work, because... lol joke, the URL is actually 426 characters long and the forum apparently just gave up after a while. For the link to be functional, you must know to quote the OP and grab the full thing that way.

Shout-out to blackdeath101#5742 for bringing light to that!

More recently, I was actively participating in this thread;

Bug Report ID: #2530833635

The OP contained a 173 character URL, that was actually a 180 character URL. Once again, attempts to copy & paste from the post fail - but copying & pasting the entire thing from a quote on the 'Post Reply' page works without issue. It's interesting that they're very different lengths!

Anyway, I've no problem with the forum getting exasperated with plaintext links for either a security or performance reason and eventually just snipping the end - but if it does this, it'd be a huge QoL fix if there was some visual indication of this so people would at least know what's going on & how to find the full link - in cases where it is a link - rather than just getting a 404 & being none the wiser.

tl;dr: If there is a sufficiently long string of text devoid of spaces or newlines, the forum will eventually just strip the final few characters on /view-thread/ pages, but exposes the full thing if you quote the post on /post-reply pages. This has unfortunate ramifications for plaintext links of unusually long sizes, as there is no indication that the forum is not displaying the entire string of text.

tl;dr tl;dr: Forum hide text. Forum not warn text is hidden. Much confuse.

To be clear, the posts are printing the full length.
You can copy the links from the post, so long as you drag the cursor to/from the line after the link, rather than to the end of the displayed line. Or, you can triple-click to highlight the entire line.

Lines are being displayed without wordwrap so that it doesn't break up a word, and also displayed in such a way that really long single lines aren't able to break how the page is displayed.

That being said, I wouldn't know if a better or more elegant solution exists.
Ah, Jadian's right. I just assumed truncating, but the post I posted in prior, you can highlight the text and see a glimmer of the word that is continuing past the visible message box on the last line of the URL and behind their account information essentially.

Looking closer, it happened again on the second line as well. So it only happens when there's a single long string of text with no dashes/characters forcing a character break.

Best of luck to the staff that wants to try to solve this one.

I mean, I'd accept https://www.pathofexile.com/pet-tax as a compromise...
