Why did you get rid of Reckoning, Riposte and Vengeance instead of improving them?
I always wanted to see GGG do more with Reckoning, Riposte and Vengeance but instead they deleted them and replaced them with in my opinion worse skills that do not auto trigger when hit.
The new retaliation skills, while seemingly powerful for 2 seconds'ish is super annoying to have to wait for the conditions for you to press the skill button. The enjoyable part of the original skills is that they auto triggered and that is what made them useful. the whole idea and mechanic of these new retribution skills just seems terrible why this ever got approval for development is beyond me Last bumped on Jul 15, 2025, 8:10:19 PM

playing devil's advocate here, as someone who has made MANY reckoning/vengeance builds in the past:
they DO think retaliation was an improvement over the former skills. Lets get that clear from the start. While you might disagree, they do not. So this "Why did you remove instead of improve" mentality doesn't really jive. Second, there are numerous retaliation builds. They are tough to get running due to requiring a specialized gameplay, but they are very powerful (eviscerate being the crowd favorite). This is one of those few times I might suggest following a build guide and learning how to maximize the existing form of the skills before casting judgment on them. How did the idea come about? Obviously PoE 2 played a huge role: with the active blocking mechanic and directional control they wanted you to have in that game....they decided to test something similar here. And then to get around the janky and clunky mechanic of having to wait, people came up with solutions. They are definitely more clunky than the auto triggered block skills BUT by comparison they do like 10-30x more damage and are far more versatile. Starting anew....with PoE 2 Last edited by cowmoo275#3095 on Jul 15, 2025, 10:36:14 AM

I liked the old automated skills myself. I got some good mileage out of them with maim and similar interactions.
The new skills are cool too, but I feel like they should have been completely new abilities. I have a lot of buttons to press already. Last edited by Sabranic_SilverDeth#2793 on Jul 15, 2025, 8:11:15 PM
