Improving old content instead of adding new

Hi, guys
Currently every new league adding new content. But PoE is already vast, i think instead of adding new content, it will be better to improve old mechanics. Like make Delve more interesting, add some kind of mini delve atlas. Same for Legion, Breach, Beyond... - they all interesting, but improving it further will be much more cool, than seeing another league and learning its temporary mechanics.

im afraid that by 'improving' you mean 'allowing for uber juice levels' and personally i am all AGAINST it

juicing reached idiotic levels recently (Blight that crash the animation engine and turns mobs into T-posed sprites, Alva that crashes instances outright)

it makes game look ridiculous

first step should be to remove the edge cases - few people can run them but it weights on entire game. then to think about 'feast of famine' philosophy that POE seems to be pushing further and further. baseline mechanics drop NOTHING and reasonable juice hardly changes that. you need to go all in, the atlas tree hardly has any meaning because you HAVE to take ALL the mechanic nodes, there are pretty much NO choices (maybe like 1 or 2 per mechanic, could have been done with a 'tree' like 4 nodes-per-mechanic deep in total instead of 20

so yeah, improvements but no more juicing, current situation is so bad ATM

and no matter what you do - no POE2 endgame 'map' please, that thing is soooo bad
By improving i mean adding something new to this mechanics. I.e. i like running Delve, find fossils by destroying walls. But after some time it becomes boring. So instead of inventing new Lake of Kalandra i would rather want something new in Delve

For some mechanics add valuable things, so they stay attractive to farm through whole league (especially cool if they are specific to this mechanic). Like essenses, harbinger fracturing orbs but for mechanics like Legion, Breach.

About juicing, i.e. increasing difficulty and rewards by own will. I see nothing bad with it (if it not crash the game :D)

You're not entirely wrong. Some of the league mechanics in Path of Exile could definitely benefit from an overhaul, or at least some fine-tuning to better fit with today’s PoE standards. We've already seen GGG make updates to certain mechanics, and they've shown they can craft more intricate and engaging conten, whether through new additions to the core game or by testing out fresh ideas.

While continuing to introduce new mechanics is important for variety and keeping things exciting, they should also dedicate time to revisiting each and every single league mechanic.

With years of experience, improved tech, and a wealth of new ideas, GGG could look at older mechanics and see what could be done better. It’s not just about adding new content, but refining the old. They could take a deep dive into each league, identifying what worked well at launch and what’s fallen flat over time, and then explore how they can enhance, update, or even rework those mechanics for today’s player base.

We’ve seen examples of this with Delirium, for instance, where they made a small but meaningful change by removing the first, less impactful waves in Simulacrum.
While it wasn’t a huge overhaul, it was a solid improvement. Similarly, the reworks of Breach, Betrayl and Abyss had a much greater impact, giving those mechanics a fresh, more rewarding feel. A similar approach to other leagues could help breathe new life into older content, making it relevant and fun again for both new and returning players.

Personally, I’d love to see them give Delve a massive overhaul. It's such a unique and fun mechanic, but it’s also one of those that has kind of plateaued over time. With more tech, better balance, and a deeper understanding of what works, it could be a much better mechanic.

Another idea I'd love to see is the integration of league mechanics that didn’t quite make it into the core game. Many of them had great concepts but lacked the lasting appeal or rewards to be sustainable long-term. Rather than letting them fade into obscurity, GGG could find ways to bring these mechanics back in a new light, perhaps by tying them to older leagues that have lost their impact over time.

For example, instead of adding Crucible as a standalone mechanic, it could be integrated into an existing league, blending the ideas together to create something that feels fresh and rewarding. It's similar to how Necropolis was partially integrated into Betrayal, allowing for new interactions and keeping older content relevant. We also saw this with Affliction, GGG kept some of the core aspects of it by adding the boss to Ritual, while also incorporating Wildwood encounters as random events in the game. This kind of integration not onlygives the core game more content, but also made Ritual =feel alive and more relevant.
