MASGA - Make Armour Sets Great Again

Path of Exile 2 should revamp its armor sets system to enhance gameplay depth, economy, and player engagement. Currently, PoE lacks true armor sets with cohesive aesthetics and meaningful synergies. Implementing well-designed sets would:

Boost the Economy – Matching armor sets with unified visuals and effects would become valuable chase items, stimulating trading and farming. Set-specific Divination Cards could make farming more targeted, while premium cosmetics could complement microtransactions.

Enable Flexible Builds – Instead of requiring full sets for bonuses, PoE 2 should adopt piece-by-piece scaling rewards (e.g., 2/5 pieces grant minor stats, 5/5 unlock unique skills). This allows hybrid builds, prevents "mandatory" full-set metas, and makes partial drops useful.

Expand Build Diversity – Armor sets could introduce new playstyles (e.g., a "Blood Mage" set that rewards life sacrifice) without power creep by incorporating trade-offs (e.g., "No Life Regeneration") or situational bonuses (e.g., Delve-specific resistance).

Strengthen Thematic Identity – Currently, PoE’s armor lacks visual and mechanical cohesion. Proper sets could tell stories (e.g., Vaal-themed corruption effects) and reinforce class fantasies (e.g., a Druid set enhancing shapeshifting).

Maintain Balance – To avoid best-in-slot dominance, top sets should be rare (Mageblood-tier) and specialized (excelling in specific content but not universally overpowered).

Concluding
By introducing visually striking, mechanically deep armor sets, PoE 2 could enrich its economy, reward long-term farming, and expand build diversity—all while preserving the game’s core complexity. With smart design, armor sets could become a highlight of PoE 2’s itemization.
