Do something against scammer

Dear GGG,
I'm Massimo Grassi from Italy, a PlayStation gamer, and my account is GrassialMax#9520.

Sorry for my English.

Yesterday I was banned from trading.

[Removed by Support]

Let me tell you the story:
I accepted a trade of 1 essence for my 9 Divines I'd pain stakingly farmed.
This happened because I was distracted by a work phone call and by my little baby (3 months old), who started crying, all while I was also in an audio party with my guild.

Now you can imagine my disappointment at seeing me punished with a trading ban, while thieves who profit from the mistakes of distracted people (like me yesterday) or new players always get away with it (is that how you say it? I mean, they go unpunished).

All it would take is knowing the account of the person making the offer to block them and stop them forever.

What do you think?

Is it so bad to make life difficult for those who take advantage of you?

I'm having trouble continuing in the league right now because 9 divines were too many for me and would have granted me an upgrade in the next few days, but now I have to stay blocked until I can get my money back.

Could you unban my account, or am I not even allowed to trade?

If someone stole from your house, would you wish them harm?
See yourselves and take it out on those who steal/use bots/pricefix/does not respond to offers

Thank you
I Hope for a more fair game

Trade more carefully!! I've played since open beta and NEVER been scammed!! It's no ones fault but your own tbh.

And when someone does try some shady shite I kick em from group and add them to my ignore list so I wont have to deal with them again!!

The analogy about someone stealing from your house is not appropriate to this situation.

What would be more accurate is if you GAVE a stranger something from your house, that you didn't want to give them, knowing full well that they would not be coming back to your house.

Distraction is not the game's fault. That's life. Remember that YOU have to confirm the trade, and multiple times at that.

This is of course BS. Both are to blame; you can (and should) always put (most of) the blame on the one with ill intent, deliberately trying to scam another player. In my mind, that goes without saying.

That said, the current in-game trade system does indeed have enough fool-proof mechanics for a seller to avoid stuff like this, and for stuff that is not part of the in-game trade system and relies on trust (carries, tft etc), well, you're always doing it on your own risk.

OP; take this as a learning experience. The night is dark and full of terrors and there will always be bad people out there. Next time, you know better.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

The story suggests that the OP entered the wrong amount of payment. 9 Divines instead of 9 Chaos, perhaps.

"9 divines were too many for me and would have granted me an upgrade in the next few days" implies that he intended to hold onto the divines for a few more days, not spend them in this trade.

In such a case, it wouldn't have been a deliberate or premeditated scam. Instead, simply a trader hitting the jackpot due to somebody else's lapse in concentration. Or otherwise a rather tasty 18,000% tip. Yum.

I'm far more interested in why the OP was banned.

Nah I don't buy into this. The majority of the blame is absolutely on the player who fell for the scam. Especially in the scenario of a PoE trade.

A homeless person comes up to you and asks for money to buy food. You give them money. They then go and buy drugs with that money because they were lying to you. You are most certainly the one most at fault for being naive, dumb, and willingly flippant with your money, REGARDLESS of the other person's intent. The homeless person is most certainly a dick for lying, but they aren't to blame for YOU giving them your money.

Same here, except blame is even more concentrated on the opposite side of the scammer: you can't blame the scammer (most) because there are multiple layers of safeguards to prevent the scammer from being even remotely successful. It takes a special concerted effort to IGNORE all of those safeguards and still fall for the scam.

Most likely named and shamed in global chat, which is a big no no.
