Does anyone else miss Phrecia Idols? :<
I'm currently farming Exile and every time I open a map I get sad that I'm not in Phrecia. The entire map in Phrecia was a huge dose of dopamine, and I'm not just talking about the Exile farm, but ALL the farms were profitable and FUN, not just opening a breach and closing the map at the speed of light. XDD.
AND MORE: In Phrecia, gold had its value; I made more divine, gambling idols and I loved it. Now I have 200m of gold, and I don't use it for anything. :<< Last bumped on Jul 10, 2025, 3:20:36 AM

Sure, I sometimes miss the power they gave me, but the system? It was bad, especially for casual players and created an even larger gap between the best and the next best players.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

I was a big fan of the "permanent scarab" effect of idols: it front-loaded the micromanagement so that you could actually play the game for long stretches of time fluidly.
I think GGG should learn a lesson from idols in that folks want to run the "same" juice many many MANY times in a row. Stack size of scarabs allows for 20 uninterrupted runs, but honestly that number should be basically infinite. For the average speed mapper, 20 maps is like an hour at the very most. And you already have to micro the map itself every single time. Honestly, I don't think 99% of the scarabs should exist. I think all of that (to a lesser power) should be in the atlas tree and permanently active (a la idols). Scarab usage should ACTUALLY be closer to what Maven chisels do, along with the mod buffing nodes on the atlas tree (remove them from tree and put on scarabs). So the atlas tree is ONLY bossing and league mechanics, and scarabs alter the map itself and buff the existing monsters within said map (keep titanic scarabs and the horny bros). No scarab drop buffs on the atlas passive tree, no modifier buffs, no kirac buffs, none of that. Those should all be scarabs. Map drop rates should be significantly higher by default and all map nodes should be removed. Keep cartography scarabs for corrupted 8 mod maps and maybe t17 maps. Kirac should grant a mission every 5 maps, period. Kirac reroll tickets should be way more rare, and way more unique. " The idol system really nailed that “set it and forget it” vibe, and it made mapping feel smooth without constantly going back to tinker with scarabs or other junk. The current 20-stack limit feels like an unnecessary leash, especially for people who just want to grind efficiently. I’d be all in for pushing most of the juice into the Atlas tree passively and letting scarabs play a more meaningful, impactful role instead of being clutter. Right now, the micro feels bloated and the actual gameplay flow suffers for it. Last edited by Gulgowski#9422 on Jul 9, 2025, 12:33:38 PM

" 200 million gold? That's insane. Just put your workers to ...work? |

I didn't really engage with them because I was so burnt out from all the Settlers' shenanigans. However, from what I've heard, it was rocky to get started but people preferred it over the Atlas tree once it was all set up.
I'd like to see them return but in some sort of Cluster Jewel or new base type for the Atlas tree, so you can get that full juice experience for a single mechanic. |

" Quoting this as i think it summarises my feelings on idols too, I was a big fan of that part too. The acquisition was awful though and it was very intense power creep in some ways. Very fun as a one off though I think Phrecia was one of GGG's best events I made some very nutty characters. |

I loved the idol system but wanted to be able to roll my own idols. It felt amazing spamming maps with 20+ harby bosses.

Yes, it added a nice drop to look forward to. To use or sell.
However, the best strats were 10x better than the next options, and they were 40 div to even start, much less optimize. I didnt do the meta, I just got 1-2 fully revealed blueprint per map, was a fun way to try heist again. |
