when you kill all the monster the wave is not over on you have to wait how long before it end why is that still a thing.

That only happens if you don't walk all the way to the edges for the adds to reveal themselves. The waiting time is just the failsafe timer you reach to clear it in case something got stuck. If you ever have to wait for loot then you have missed a spot.
