End Game Suggestion
Current end game feels very generic. Running the maps feel very artificial and not unique.
I just have a suggestion if the endgame can be made by adding all the areas of the campaign into the world atlas. Meaning the open world would be there in end game but with portals to areas similar to that of the campaign instead everything would be unlocked and customizable through the atlas skill tree. To add more variety to farming, you can add specific item drops from specific areas or bosses. That way no one area will be the all and end all. Through the atlas tree we can juice certain area of our liking. Towns would be filled with players and would feel livelier with all the players around similar to the campaign. I've been trying to imagine some form of this for some time, myself. I think I would rather keep playing through the campaign front-to-back or even just certain acts, than run maps or trials. Maybe something like an additional function of the Atlas Map. That way people don't have to run it if they don't want to. They can just path around it. Or even simpler, make it a special node near the home base so you can go in and activate it any time you want.
Like a special form of Tower that represents an Act. Once you clear the Tower, you enter your tablets to modify the Act. *You cannot return to your Atlas Map until this modified TowerAct is Completed or Failed./?* Then when you first enter each area in the modified Acts you enter your Waystone to further modify it. I don't know how it would be designed or how it would work really. I just know I agree with your sentiment, that I would like alternative grinding methods for end-game and I also like the polished level design of the (released-so-far) campaign far above listlessly running random maps.
