How to balance endgame content easily and quickly
Honestly, the problem is that things like volatile cores, tentacle fiends and many other "endgame" mechanics scale with all map mods at 100% value, if map has crit and increased damage, then volatiles are doing all that, if it has increased cast speed, volatiles explode faster.
Same as with mercs that were oneshotting entire playerbase of the game, the tuning needs to be done, you don't have to remove the scaling, just change the way it works. Like 1/3 or 1/4 of map mods go into volatile/tentacle fiends. The other thing is titanic/delirum/toughness stacking. I had mobs in the map, that had 1000x more HP than uber uber bosses. I am not sure if this is balanced. If those mobs roll some % hp regen or things like that they become literally unkillable by all but 1-2 people in the game. Death screen would solve a lot of issues, so people will stop trying to build a "defensive character" against mechanics that oneshot 10+ mirror builds. Last bumped on Jul 7, 2025, 1:00:43 PM

love posts like these:
"This is how you can fix everything EASILY" - a random, know-nothing player Meanwhile, GGG has been balancing and rebalancing everything for 13 years while introducing new content. And hasn't "solved" the issue. But sure...I believe YOU know how to EASILY fix it! Merc 1hkos had NOTHING to do with map mods: strike 1 Volatile Cores do absolutely nothing if you avoid them or have 90% fire resistance. Map mods mean nothing: strike 2 And the stupidest thing in this post? Self-inflicted harm by stacking scarabs and willful buffing of monsters is somehow the GAME's fault and should be balanced for? Strike 3 You're out. "Scaling" as you describe it isn't a problem at all. The problem is YOU not knowing what you are scaling and whether you can handle it. Regular mapping and even super-juiced content is about KNOWING your build limits, and not biting off more than you can chew. I mean....your comment about your buffed monsters rolling "regen" being unkillable shows how little knowledge you have. There are many ways to completely shut off regen as an actual problem, and anyone juicing monsters in the way you describe would have these ready to go. But mercs: that was just classic GGG untested, overtuned nonsense. It had everything to do with the SKILLS dealing too much damage on its own. Long before scaling ever took place. They have gutted this and the 1khos are (almost) nonexistent now. Starting anew....with PoE 2 Last edited by cowmoo275#3095 on Jul 5, 2025, 9:13:55 AM

They've said before they err on the side of giving too little and making it too hard then tune if from there.
If mercs came out and were wet napkins that gave free currency BUT then suddenly became a balanced challenge people would be pissed that the freebie got taken away. As for the toughness, don't juice past what a build can handle. As the other person said, its a self inflicted issue. I love Titanic blight farming, but I am very careful about my map mods as some can create nearly unkillable mobs(for my build).
