Time to revamp the penal system again.
Currently every single mute you get for a specific category or action (spam, trading in chat, too long posts, etc...) accumulate over time. Each mute you get is longer than the previous. This system does not work in a game that is 10+ years old. Older accounts and players who get muted are getting hit with mutes that can extend to almost 30 days for basic things like making a post that is too long, or linking crafting that takes more than 2-3 steps. The punishment for getting muted was updated the other year, which now includes removing all items from the market from your premium tabs. You cannot PM people for their items, you cannot list items. If someone accidently copies and pastes a PoB link item in chat, it has the potential to get them muted for days, if not weeks. This can literally destroy someone's league -- especially early on.
This is made worse because there is no clear definition of what spam or what too long of a post is. If GGG doesn't want long posts and considers it spam, why allow the character limit to extend to where anyone who reaches that will immediately get muted? Also, there is no clear definition for how many posts you can do in x time frame which will be considered 'spam'. We have people doing crafts, or linking harvest gambles who extend for 10-15+ posts and there is no mute. But then someone who posts a few annul/augments on an item will then be muted. We need a falloff system for these. As stated above, one accidental post or doing a harvest gamble in chat where someone just decides to report you when this is just a standard thing people do in global should not have the ability to remove you from chats and all markets for days/weeks at a time. This system is in desperate need of an overhaul; or at least an update. Last bumped on Jul 3, 2025, 8:57:38 PM
