So we really need to talk about monkey and consorts (phys dmg)
Firstly, this is not a whinning song, nor a love song...
Playing HC SSF and yes, I survived. All fine. So, besides meme afk builds or current immortal builds (those will become nerfed, newones will come, and become nerfed later again and so on) talking about legit builds, strong builds, that are layered with several defense layers, in my opinion the pure phys bosses are dealing far too much dmg / the defense layers are far too weak against pure phys. With an lvl 90 smith in a lvl 65 monkey map, having the 25% phys to fire dmg migation, arround 85% fire res, 55% armour with 7% additional phys dmg reduction, arround 3.3 life and 1k ES, crit redution arround 20%, this monkey hits my ES away and 50% of my life, with 1 hit. On lvl 65. Looking at https://poe2db.tw/us/Monster#MonsterStats tells me, that he will do like 50% more dmg on a 79 map. And so 1 shot me. So we do not need to talk about the real defense layers: knowledge, gear, build, skill in this priority So I know, as long I glue at his ass I will be fine, in the very most cases. But well, sometimes he will hit you. Also, I know that SSF = shitty gear compared to trade, but really, looking at my stats, the gear is okayish. We also do not need to talk about: you need to 1 shot bosses. That is not the vision of a meaningful fight, GGG want us to interact with the bosses, to dodge, run, hit, and repeat. In my personal opinion this also makes far more fun than 1 shot a boss. Obviously we want our dmg high, so the fight does not take longer than like 1min, to be efficient and also less in danger. But 1 shot the boss can`t be the correct answer. That armour is less good than ES, hell, we dont need to talk about that.. (at this point, maybe someone could calculate, if it is more usefull to use an AR/ES shild without the additional phys reduction or not, personally I still think it should be better to use those additional reduction ...?) What I want to talk about is: a (hybrid) build with several def layers and okayish gear should be able to survive this monkey on a lvl 79 or even 81 map. Specially with a good amount of recovery. And on non HC I took several times a hit from monkey and survived, barely, but survived. But this char was far less defense oriented, but far more dmg oriented. So I expected on a lvl 65 a hit that is far less dangerous. Now I see, all the def layers wont make a big change on 79+ maps. You will be lucky and survive, or maybe not..
