Console item text size suggestion

I love this game, and want to help improve it, so please don’t take any of the following as just complaining or venting. I don’t believe in providing negative feedback without at least a rough alternative solution.

I’m sure the devs have seen the many requests for larger text on consoles, particularly the item tooltips. I thought I’d throw out a couple of possible solutions. The idea is to reduce the required horizontal space so that increasing the text size only impacts the vertical space when enlarged.

The first suggestion would be to shrink a lot of the modifier descriptions to be less needlessly verbose. For example,

#% increased Mana Regeneration Rate

could be rewritten as

+#% Mana Regeneration

without losing any context.

Another option would be to just use informational symbols instead of wordy descriptions for modifiers. Pretty sure the try hard gamers will hate this, but it’s not like I’m suggesting to dumb down the modifier system or anything, just optimize for brevity. Some examples of what that might look like just using iOS emojis:

Say what you want about Diablo, but those games have managed to figure out how to communicate a lot of information on a screen that can be displayed in a readable way across platforms. I love both PoE games, but there seems to be a certain PC-first mindset displayed by the devs. I would encourage the devs to a) try playing the game on a console sitting a reasonable distance away, like typical couch to TV distance, and b) try navigating to their own website on a mobile device and honestly evaluate the user experience.

Side note: another point of personal irritation is the reinvention of the wheel with the forum editor formatting. Like why come up with your own proprietary limited markup instead of just supporting the preexisting, well defined syntax of markdown? Same goes for loot filters. Just use YAML or TOML or something, that way you could even provide a schema for it to make everyone’s life easier by providing suggestions for valid values
