"Stop movement when cast" is wonky in PoE 2

I don't like the movement penalty while casting in poe2, and so I'd rather not move while casting/shooting at all.

But when I checked the "stop movement when cast" option, it only stopped the character from moving on the initial cast. If I held down WASD, it would immediately begin slowly moving while finishing up the animation again.

This is particularly bad on crossbows because you also get movement penalty while reloading (which I believe is way too much, not being able to attack while reloading is enough of a tradeoff really).

I'd really rather completely stop the character until it finishes casting/shooting like in poe1 and other arpg's than deal with movement penalty. But others might like that, so please update the "stop movement when cast" option to actually do that or something.

In Crossbows is way to punishing. Reload + Load time + movement punishment + No reload or other action during dodge time.

It's disaster. If i add also that some of gens don't work properly then its unplayable.

The 6% reduced movement penalty from soul core will save the planet bro!

Pathetic...
I could tolerate moving while casting as mage and ranger, but the first time I tried to level a crossbow I almost got real life motion sickness, because my brain knows im holding down WASD but the character keeps irregularly slowing down.

Me too. There was an improvement with passive recently but not all char's can take this path to reach it. Personally gems that providing less movement penalty are wasted sockets. It's more important to boost damage or skill speed.
