Is it the game or my potato Machine? (Poe1)

It is a fair question: I want to know if I had a far better machine, I would able to play with some kind of build?

So, firstly, I acknowledge tha mine is an old notebook, almost a potato if compared with new stuff:

16 GB Ram, I7 7ª gen, Geforce 1050TI, SSD nvme.

Secondly, I also acknowledge I am pushing it. Like Standard Deadeye - KB build with lot of "on hit" and "on kill" effects farming Legion or Standard Dex Stack Templar with more than 25 ballista totems trying to farm Blight.

In both examples the game is unplayable. -1FPS and very crashable material.

Again, the question is: A better machine would play those builds, or its a game issue?

Which resolution are you playing at?



Blighted Maps are never a great time performance-wise, but yes a better machine would absolutely result in a night-and-day difference in terms of the FPS you get.

GGG hates toasters. I just about managed to play this league by editing the config file and even then I have to run certain content without the game freezing. Wish they could just compact it to work better, or have a legacy version. At this rate I'll have to buy new hardware or never play the game again.

But please, I dont want to be rude, but i am not looking for just a "opinion" with no background. I am wondering that someone with better config and same kind of build tell me it is playable.

After all, the problem is not the FPS, the problem is the game calculation after so much interactions. It is uppon the server? it is upng the machine? ??? ?? ?


P.S: but off course, if you say to me that if i play the same build at 800x600 it will shine, it is ok to me and also works to understand the problem.

Well, your performance issue will either relate to your FPS or to your network latency.

You can use the game's internal performance graphs (I think the default keybind is F1?) to determine which of the two are at fault. Though, given the specs, I'd be comfortable guessing. As you're using a laptop, you may need to hold down a Function / Fn key while tapping F1.

The best answer to your question is likely "both." Combat calculations are performed server-side, but your local game client will be running its own in a simulation to do the likes of updating health bars on your screen. The graphs I referred to above would also show you whether any bottlenecks in your system are caused by the CPU (e.g. calculations) or the video card. If you'd be trying to eek out as much performance out of that laptop as possible - even if only until new hardware arrives - it would help tremendously to have an uncropped screenshot taken during a particularly rough moment while the graphs are being displayed. A second one taken immediately afterwards could also be informative. You can't upload files directly to this site, but you can post links to e.g. Imgur.

Yes.

You've not posted a Path of Building link. You've 0 challenge completed, meaning you aren't playing the current challenge league, so we're unable to discount the majority of your characters that way. While it's great that you have repeatedly not wanted to be rude, you might want to try being helpful. Because it seems you've very high standards of the random people online from whom you are asking for information, but none whatsoever for yourself. The disparity is jarring.

Also - if people open the thread and see the person asking for help biting at anyone who responds, they're unlikely to risk becoming the next victim of someone clearly in a foul mood.

I have experience playing KB Deadeye. I'd caveat that with "but not in Mercenaries League", but apparently that's not a factor in whether I can replicate your build & the content you're playing in reasonably closely. I've not played KB Deadeye as of this month's Patch 3.26, and there's been an above average number of people posting about significantly altered performance since Patch 3.26, so I wouldn't be comfortable commenting on performance until I had played it more recently & done a bit of due diligence in terms of ensuring content, gear, et al are at least in the same ballpark.

Given the number of times I've been bitten for not acting on the information you've not bothered to provide (are we supposed to go digging for it ourselves..?), I think I'll just not bother.

OP u have to realize that u ask for very specific things concerning a certain build (or two builds) and hardware configuration. There's probably no1 out there with the same specs playing ur exact build, so it's unreasonable to expect that.

If u don't want to give more information, that's fine, but don't expect people that try to help u to have ur desired answer then. And u were pretty rude towards Sarno, writing "I don't want to be rude" doesn't change that fact. No wonder he wasn't polite afterwards.

Most of it is not true at all.

1 - If I want to be rude, believe me, I would.

2 - People want to help? Yes they did want. That is nice. But it should start with reading and understand the problem, which seems that was not the case of your friend. And it did not take much for he starting rage, like you, and try to say things like how many challenges I have in a league that I am not even playing. And yet, if he had read the first post, he would known that i asked for Standard.

3 - Enough information was given. Your lack of building knowlodge don't mean that thoses builds are unkown. Ballista Stack is popular due to the fact that it can reach really stupid DPS meanwhile Deadeye KB is/was very popular to XP gain at legion.


4 - Yes, I asked specific things. I will try to be even more clear The question is: Builds with a lot (I mean a lot) of "on hit and on kill effects" are smothly playable in high end computer or they still overcharge the sever?

But please, if you don't know. Its ok. You don't need to come seeking fight. Because it what you both are doing.
