Current server issues highlights why PoE 2 map ideas are TERRIBLE

You lose your loot, you lose your map, lose boss fragments, then you lose hours of your exp because server often consider you as dead.
You lose effort, time and everything because GGG is so fixated on thinking how you must be punished, but there is never a recourse or compensation for your time and loss.

Their problems, and your penalties.

This is a misreading of the situation; you are conflating design goals & technical limitations.

The DDoS attacks against GGG's servers targets one of their IP addresses at a time, abruptly smacks it with more traffic than the associated hardware is able to withstand, and so the server crashes.

You lose your map because the server has crashed. This isn't optional on GGG's part any more than you getting a BSoD & your friends complaining about you abruptly leaving the Discord call. The hardware went down. The software on it was no longer running.

You losing loot is a bit more involved - and likely, at least in part, due to decisions GGG has made with the express goal of cutting costs. Essentially, their databases live in Texas and whatever instance server you're playing on needs to periodically send them updates. A finite number of things 'trigger' such a sync to occur - changing zone is known to be one example, and iirc leveling up will also do it. I'm sure there's others I'm not personally aware of. If the server crashes, it is unable to trigger a sync or do literally anything whatsoever. Thus, data loss.

Boss fragments as per the explanation above.

You're way complicating the issue. No matter what is the condition, the result is you are punished severely for it, whether it is not by their fault, it is in their design.

Why should i lose hours upon hours of time because of a map death in which everything is cluttered? It is their design because they are so fixated that you MUST be punished by something. Why should i lose hours and hours of my farmed loot and resources invested into the map?

And it was not enough that they initially designed poe2 to be 1 single portal event, because screw you that's why. A server hangs or crash, 1 shot all gone, do you get compensated? No because screw you that's why.

It was only through numerous complaints of such ridiculous punishment that poe2 even have some sort of leniency of multiple gate for lower difficulty, but it's still intent of punishing you unfairly for higher difficulty.

Wasn't it also through numerous complaints that GGG changed that you cannot lose hours of experience in a boss fight?

Whether it is by ddos or not in the end your loss is never compensated.

Actually Sarno is not complicating the issue at all. That is EXACTLY what is happening.

You may not like it, but that is just the way it works. And of course, we know that GGG never restore lost items for any reason.

At the end of the day, this is a game, a time-waster, pixels on a screen.

Deal with it.

You are on a Discord call with a friend. Their computer has a BSoD. Your friend is no longer on a Discord call with you.

Is your friend punishing you by abruptly & prematurely leaving the call?

You miss the meeting we had scheduled because someone broke into & stole your car.

What form of compensation do you plan to offer me?
