How does trade work on PS5?

Played POE2, traded etc, but this seems completely different. I send request for item, they sent a join message. I click join and then nothing happens. Tried again on just a basic item just to test, same thing. No player icon pop up to warp to, nothing. Any help would be much appreciated.
