Well i won't be playing this league

Cause my pc died :(
Replacement at least a week away.
O well i was in desperate need of an upgrade anyway, silver linings and all.
Of all the times tho, literally 1 day before league start.

Edit:
Yes, finally it has arrived.
Man going from a 6 year old laptop to a brand spanking new desktop made a bit of a difference to say the least.

congrats on your upgrade.

i remember back when i was at the mercy of "what my parents gave me".

it took me literal minutes to load painkiller (fps) JUST the loading screen.

i could barely play the game, with massive lagspikes and only make it to a few rooms before the game crashes.

that was the first time i felt my pc was inept.

for POE, my first major upgrade was when i bought an SSD. dayum.

loading the main menu used to take minutes. loading EVERY area used to take 1-3 minutes. after i got an SSD i barely notice the loading screen anymore. also booting windows was ridiculously fast. most youngsters will not appreciate how fast they get to windows from powering up their pc nowadays.

enjoy your new rig.

and since you have a more powerful pc, perhaps try more modern games. i personally like the newer resident evil and monster hunter games. tho wilds is quite unoptimized.

It is truly a different gaming world for me.
I finaly got cyberpunk which i always wanted to play but couldn't on my laptop and i also got clair obscur(goty without a doubt)
Having such a good time.

And as a boomer i can't stop being amazed at just how good it all looks and the speed of both how everything functions and downloads.
Amazing times to be a gamer for sure.

ive gone the other way m8

my desktop pc and my really great dual monitor massive desk etc setup is in my house i own in northern ireland while i am now living in my partners house in england playing on a gaming laptop plugged into a tv while i sit on her sofa with a wireless keyboard and mouse in my lap.

its insane how unplayable everything becomes when you downgrade this far.

rly puts into perspective how big a factor this is. when we talk about boss difficulty, 1 shots in the game etc. the difference playing a radically better setup makes its like playing a different game.

im 43, just about in the millennial bracket but i first got a pc to play the original wolfenstien as a kid, just got it when the first doom was released by id software.

so i come from that place of having enjoyed games when they looked like absolute 640x480 30fps trash. i still havent played cyberpunk. im about 15 years behind on games having just mainlined poe for the last decade. im saving that moment for when my partner and i buy a new house, i move my stuff over and im gonna buy myself a new pc, finally get to play all these crazy games ive been missing on max settings. im jealous, i cant wait to get there myself. even games that are 7 years old at this point are going to blow my mind with the graphics.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
New PC here too, such a difference it makes. Old PC (5 years or so) coped fine with PoE 1 for the most part, but struggled non-stop with PoE 2 due to CPU bottlenecking.

Now I can play anything :)
😹😹😹😹😹
I do not and will not use TFT.

If better hardware makes a game pay-to-win, then every game is pay to win, since some players grasp things faster while others struggle for all kinds of reasons. So "winning" is always just about having any kind of advantage.

aw come on, i was just joking.

but if we're going down that topic.

stashes/premium stashes provide so much convenience, time/effort savings, it definitely provides an advantage for players.

this aspect makes poe p2w. but i ll preemptively mention on the scale of a game being f2p to p2w, poe's p2wness is around 1 out of 10. very small number.

still cant deny its p2w.

Poe is one of the games that indeed better hardware makes the game easier and enables faster progression, even if just because the screens load faster but theres legit important instances, sometimes better hardware means an effect is not invisible. For me, innocence-like bosses have invisible stuff, i always die at least once on the new deceitful god encounter because on the "find the gaps on the expanding circles" stage, the circles are invisible(its also hella overtuned, 90% resists with 50k armour and 6k shield still gets 2-tapped), its just a fact, the guy said as a joke, but joke or not, theres some truth behind it

But its not exactly truth that it applies to every, or even most games. On the pro scene, the spectators watch on max specs, but the players usually play on absolute minimum to reduce visual clutter. The most common thing that happens is indeed that ramping up the prettiness tends to drown the relevant info on unnecessary shit that is just there to look cool, so poe is kinda an exception, the more common is hardware upgrade either dont give any real advantage or straight up hinders your gameplay(slightly, as in, only noticeable if youre real hardcore but still)
