PoE 2 servers are restarting in: .
They should be back up in approximately .[Linux] Constant Crashing since new League
|
I can't play the game anymore since the league started. Constant crashing when changing the instance. The problem got worse, too. At first, it was only a high chance of crashing when changing the instance and I managed to play until beating Brutus with estimated 30-40 crashes. Game crashed on entering Prisoners Gate and since then EVERY other instance except the Act Hub crashes for me without exceptions.
On Vulcan I can't even load into the character, on DX12 I can't leave Lioneyes Watch. - It doesn't matter if I change any other graphics option. - It doesn't matter which league. On standard, trying to go from Karui Shores to anything else crashes the game. - It doesn't really matter which proton version, everything else than 9.0 or 5.13 doesn't even start or crashes on loading into character. - It doesn't matter if I use runtime Steam, native Steam or the PoE client. The Lutris logs don't show anything either. When the game crashes, it just registers it as exit code 0, as if I just closed the game regularly. - It doesn't matter which Kernel I use, changed from 6.14.6 to 6.12.28 without difference. - It doesn't matter if I try to play on my PC or laptop, the problem doesn't change. Edit: Things I did test but didn't mention in the initial post include deleting the shader caches, verified game files integrity, reinstalled the game, deleting the prefix to generate a new one and rebooting the system. ----- PC Specs: CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X GPU: Radeon RX 5700 XT 16 GB 32GB RAM System and Game on SSDs Manjaro Linux KDE Plasma Desktop using Wayland Kernel 6.14 or 6.12 (doesn't matter as described above) Proton 9.0-4 (as described above) Laptop Specs: TUXEDO Sirius 16 - Gen2 CPU: Ryzen 7 8845HS GPU: Radeon RX 7600XT 8GB 64GB RAM System and Game on SSD Manjaro Linux KDE Plasma Desktop using Wayland Kernel 6.14 Proton 9.0-4 (as described above) Last edited by MarcVakarian#7469 on Jun 14, 2025, 2:44:20 PM Last bumped on Dec 4, 2025, 2:10:19 PM

Small Update, I managed to get a wine crash dump using wine 10.7
It's to long to post, so I uploaded it here: https://gist.github.com/1LtFord/e181209843af29531f49b08d602c6ace Last edited by MarcVakarian#7469 on Jun 14, 2025, 11:57:28 AM

Sadly, i have no clue on what specifically might be happening there.
But personally, in the past i had very good experiences with trying different proton versions. Some leagues i could only use some specific version, another league another version... Dont just use the newest one, that might not be the best choice. Last edited by Cassla#4068 on Jun 14, 2025, 1:58:45 PM

I tried every proton Version from Experimental to 5.13.
Everything between 8.0-5 to 6.8-3 doesn't even start. 5.13 works like 9.0-4, means it crashes when i try to leave the Act Hubs like Lioneyes Watch or Karui Shores etc. With 5.0-10 it starts that the game doesn't start again, so I didn't bother to go even further back... Things I did test but didn't mention in the initial post include deleting the shader caches, verified game files integrity, reinstalled the game, deleting the prefix to generate a new one and rebooting the system. I never had problems like this with PoE, in fact I played PoE 2 for around an hour after my first post here, without any problems. But I already saw a lot of posts about crashes on windows in the last hours, so maybe it is just a general problem that has nothing to do with playing on Linux... Just for comparison :
I have Ryzen 5 5600X + Radeon 6800XT , ubuntu 24.04 and Steam , and it works mostly very nicely. I used proton (in steam setup) from 6 to 10 and it just works. Maybe a distribution specific bug, i don't know Manjaro/Arch but i believe they have more recent packages version than ubuntu. ? Last edited by Dolgrund#5637 on Dec 4, 2025, 2:14:16 PM
