Giving Mercenaries Vaal Glacial Hammer Is a Great Way of Preventing the Game From Being Fun
Enemies trying to CC me is one thing, but my """ally""" constantly trapping me is insufferable.

To be fair, you were forced to look at their skills before choosing to hire them.
To be unfair: what in the world are you doing with any merc that isn't a Striker or Warpriest? |

" Right, but a bunch of their skills seem to have been intentionally tweaked to be more useful than you might assume at first blush, so I just assumed the obviously-not-fun interaction had been specifically avoided. And I'm a minion build and he had Hatred, so I was quite tempted. :P |

" I'm still low level atm, but tbh my favourite so far has been Flaming Charlatans. Be curious what you think of 'em! |

" Strikers are broken and BIS for just about any build. They're incredibly durable melee fighters which use vigilant strike, enduring cry, and decoy totems, and usually come with a defensive aura like Determination. So unless you're playing something which doesn't benefit from a free source of unlimited endurance charges (Heiro, etc) there's no reason to pick anything else until you get your hands on a Kingmaker (they can't use 2h axes, unfortunately). Warpriests are on the opposite end of the spectrum and usually field a variety of summons and offensive auras, dealing tremendous damage and painting entire boss arenas with conc ground. They're what you want if you happen to be playing as a Heirophant or Juggernaut and can't benefit as much from the defenses provided by Striker. Do they get better? I am very low level and mine are dying all the time, and then sulking back at camp for the remainder of the zone (along with their friends.) When they do venture out, they are a few levels behind me after a short time, and I am babysitting them while I look for a new one.
Do I need to ignore them until higher level? Right now I am underwhelmed. |
