Steam/standolne client not working on macos

Hello i dwonloaded the steam version and the app would immediately shut after opening, so i tried to download the standalone macos client
after mounting the file the client downloaded some 30 mb of data and then a message saying that the file has been corrupted; the download time is unknown. I tried bypassing security tools, disabling gatekeeper completely, giving poe full disk access but nothing seems to work.
Regards
Edit: also tried removing extend attributes

Having the same issue on my M3 Max...

Tried CrossOver too, not working :(
Having the exact same issue. Steam client fails to open at all. Standalone client fails after downloading a 30mb patch with an error message that reads: “Path of Exile” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.

In the past I was able to move the file to the trash and then overwrite the executable file inside the Library folder for PoE, but that has not worked for this league.

I'm glad they are working on a fix but the Steam client, but it worries me that their advice is to use the standalone client, when that also hasn't worked for several leagues now.

Another weird thing is that I've had this problem for a while (used Kegworks as a very janky solution throughout Settlers and Phrecia leagues) so I logged in a few times before the launch last Wednesday and had zero issues getting in through the Steam client.

I'm an M2 Max
For anyone still having this problem try this workaround posted by zrpm7#0134 with this addition posted by Scrotomwarrior#7686:

* Under system settings > Privacy & Scurity > under the security tab you have to "allow the application" in between steps three and four.

Step 1: Move to trash, "Path of Exile.app" in the Applications Folder, Move to trash Dmg, Empty Trash,
Restart.

Step 2: New Dmg, Install ---> Right click or Option Click "Path of Exile.app" in the Applications Folder
and select show package contents.

Step 3: click contents --> MacOS --> run the Path of Exile Unix Executable File - 3.1 MB
" Once you run it the terminal should show up and on the top it will show the directories the app
is using. You want to focus on the----->

****** Path of Exile folder set to /Users/yourUserName/Library/Application Support/Path of Exile. *****

<------- The important point here is "Path of Exile folder set to" ----. It might be different on different machines. the above path was for me.

Once the exe files finishes it will say corrupted move to trash, go ahead and do that. Then find the folder path based on the terminal. If you open Users and do not see the Library, Use CMD+Shift+period (.)
to show hidden folders.

Step 4: drag and drop the Path of Exile.app front the trash to the /Users/yourUserName/Library/Application Support/Path of Exile folder. Once dropped, right click or option click the Path of Exile.app and click open. then click Open anyway, and you are good to go. Just to clarify you are opening it in the /Users/yourUserName/Library/Application Support/Path of Exile folder where dragged it from the trash.

This is not working also, I tried it. I could re-install PoE with this approach, but then the game does not update to the new patch.
I managed to get it to patch once by deleting the content.ggpk, now that they've produced a new patch it once again isn't patching properly and I'm probably going to have to delete the content.ggpk again and do a full reinstall with every patch. It seems to be an oddly common problem on Mac for games that claim to support it, I've been stuck doing that to get league to work since 2021 and I've never gotten a useful response from league's support team in that time, I'm not confident GGG is going to be any better about it.
Issue is now this:

The version is set as Poe1 and is not recognised by the servers, which believe I'm running an old version.
Deleted the ggpk, download again the 51GB. and still the same issue.
Yeah I'm at a complete loss. The fix I posted worked for me yesterday. Today it has me stuck with the infamous error message: "There has been a patch you need to update to. Please restart Path of Exile."
This makes me very sad, they broke something today/yesterday :(
This morning is working again with the move to bin trick.
Except the servers are pretty much gone already and it freezes after a couple of minutes
