Various Currency Merging Solutions
I guess its about time to merge close stacks of currency as there are enough mechanics that drop single currency items, but a lot of them and we thought it to be solved by the last iteration of drop stacking, but that only happens on some occasions.
how about we improve upon the formula and auto merge all non player dropped currency items within a certain range? (near instant or via gravity pull) (would be funny to see the growing stack following you as you clear a super densly packed map. to prevent that you could add max distance travelled float to stacks that is averaging with every addition, so new stacks can merge into the big one but the big one cant move anymore) or a time based/% of monster slain/on portal call (whichever triggers first) that would cumulate internally and then drop them at once. the last suggestion would be a magnet skill (gem), so you finally have a use for your weapon swap, but that skill would make the gem mandatory, adding to the skill slot pressure and weakening weapon swap builds. i don't know if the same is true for shortcuts (keyboard, but especially on gamepad that's an issue, long holding R3/L3 could work, but i dont know the mapping incl pressure there), could be the best solution lore wise when coupled as boss (poe2) or quest reward i think the most naturally feeling would be the first suggestion, but thats the most resource intensive approach. but i guess we all can agree that an entire screen covered with currency labels isnt the best ux especially when your still fighting. condensing that into a couple of labels would actually help a lot and remove the tedium, after having already earned those rewards.
