3.26 Focused Channeling Support Question

Does the damage bonus apply only while channeling the skill?

For example, if I channel Winter Orb, and then release, will the projectile damage from the skill be modified after I stop channeling?

Will Scourge Arrow's spore pods be affected by the damage bonus accumulated during channeling, or only the initial arrow projectile?

Will Stormbind's bonus damage be based on time spent channeling to place runes, or to empower them?

Will the DoT debuff applied by Blight become weaker when channeling stops? What about Scorching Ray?

My intuition is that this damage bonus will basically work like snapshotting, so all hits at the end of a channel are probably created just before the channeling status is removed, so they will of course be affected, but all hits after the channeling status is removed ends (WOrb, Scourge Arrow, maybe Stormbind even) will not be affected by the damage bonus.

DoTs and debuffs will probably snapshot the damage bonus when they are applied.

Is that right?

Lots of support gems don't show up in the tooltip DPS, just FYI.

The gem is definitely working as intended, it's just a matter of are players using it as intended, or are they using it the way they hoped it would work.

So to answer OP's questions, let's start with the obvious first:

Scourge Arrow, Cyclone, etc can't be impacted by the support in any way, because it only supports spells. No upside, no downside, just a waste of a socket.

Spells like Flameblast which do nothing until they are released can be supported, but it is purely detrimental: you won't get the bonus damage, but you will pay the More Mana Cost.

Winter Orb, Incinerate, Divine Ire, and similar skills benefit from the increased damage only while you are actively channeling the skill. So you do get some bonus damage, but it won't apply to the "payload" damage which comes after you stop channelling.

Spells which are continuously channelled to deal damage, such as Blight, Lightning Tendrils, and Scorching Ray receive the maximum upside from the support. I'd only ever use the support gem with skills that fall into this specific category. Edit: this would mean that the full DoT effect of Blight or Scorching Ray would benefit from the boosted damage, because the damage of the spell effect is calculated when the spell is cast.
