How does armour applying to elemental damage actually work?
I know that, according to the official wiki, armour is applied before damage reduction from elemental resistance, but how is it actually calculated?
For example, let's suppose a hit deals 1,000 raw damage, and armour provides 10% damage reduction on a character with 75% resistance. I can see two possible ways to interpret this: a) Damage reduction from armour and resistance are additive: Total reduction = 10% + 75% = 85% Net damage taken = 150 b) Damage reductions apply sequentially: Damage after armour = 1,000 × (1 - 0.1) = 900 Net damage taken = 900 × (1 - 0.75) = 225 Total reduction = 77.5% Which system is actually used in the game? Or is it something else I haven’t considered? Also, if system A is used, is it limited by the maximum resistance (default = 75%) or capped maximum resistance (90%)? A response from GGG staff would be greatly appreciated to clarify this, as it significantly affects armour’s effectiveness when applied to elemental damage. Last bumped on Jun 13, 2025, 8:35:41 AM

Armor sucks
Its the best answer... You can check ppl talking about... is somethink like dmg/armor+dmg, (I'm not good at math) But... as ppl tell, the harder the dmg, the less armour holds. Also, it's only for physical dmg, for elemental dmg there are the resistance. (as far as I read and I know) |

" Obviously, I'm talking about Heatproofing (on skill tree) and some new soul cores added with patch 0.2.1 that make amour to apply to elemental dmg. |

" dont worry my man ... our amazing developers creat 22 new runes xD. |

"This is correct. Armour is fully applied to damage, mitigating some of the value, before resistances apply. | |
" Thank you very much for the reply! |
