Playing Harcore should be the basis of Balancing.
Hi there.
This is my first post and I play mostly Hardcore. Hardcore is the mode which really alters the build progress of a character. The need to balance offense and defense is of top priority. Doing so, passive skill choices will definitely lean more towards building defense early on rather than dreaming of achieving 6-7 digit DPS. In terms of gearing, you have to make the best of what you have. True HC trade exist but the market is constantly without surplus because of the mechanic of HC which removes all of the gears equipped as well as the items you have in your inventory on the time of death. These are some I wish GGG will consider when making changes to Hardcore Mechanic since we can only live once. 1. Map Portals - HC Players can never use more than one portal. It is basically a feature for Standard. 2. Link Skills - Redesign the whole idea so that HC players won't hesitate to use the skill. 3. Last Hit Death Notice - This simple mechanic will help HC players adjust to threats when starting new HC Character. 4. Orb of Binding - This item should be more prevalent in the early stages of the game. 5. Quest Rewards - Some quests are not really worth doing. Hopefully rewards will just be about Passive skill point and Respec point. Feel Free to correct me and ADD your idea. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS IS FOR HARDCORE TRADE. " The idea of challenge modes (e.g. Hardcore; Ruthless) is that you agree to take on additional difficulty in return - essentially - for bragging rights. I can't help thinking changes specifically being made in order to lessen the difficulty are somewhat missing the point. I find it difficult to justify optional purchases to support a Tencent-owned development studio that declines to provide customers Technical Support, regardless of how many thousands of euros that customer has spent...

I'm not sure what you're suggesting with your first point. The 5th point already has an answer: don't do the quest.
Link skills in HC are not worth the risk, I agree completely with that. Thanks for all the fish!

Hi. I agree completely about what you posted. My reasoning behind this idea is that orb of binding is essentially good in the early part of the game. It barely drops in lower level maps which it is badly needed. Upon reaching higher level maps, the orb of binding no longer has any value.
Orb of binding can be a nice reward for quests instead of gears being offered. |

It is the basis of balancing outside of a few edge cases and certainly is the design criteria that they fit new content to.
1 portal is fine but i can't see the point, you are changing game rules to try and prevent people scumbagging content with logout that's contorting the game into knots for no reason. Just accept some will do it and leave the portals there for convenience. Last hit death notice is pretty irrelevant, if you want this feature do it yourself with shadowplay or any recording software w/e - if it was clear enough that a last hit death notice tells you what happened its clear enough you can look it up or ask someone. Ok that's the two disagreements out of the way Link skills do need to work differently on HC but i can't actually work out how they'd do it, and bitchbois are already extremely powerful in HC as it is so i don't relish the idea of them having more power than they already do. I would like them to be usable though. Binding orbs should drop earlier, but this isn't a HC related change its just a general statement about the fact an alch + 4 link item should drop when its useful as past your first character at the start of the league these are functionally alch orbs. Quest rewards are garbage but again this is a standard game problem, they provide links if you need them and that's really all that is required. When was the last time anyone handed in the Chitus plum? I've not done an optional quest for a rare for at least 5 years lol just skip them. I think it'd be easier to just state "remove the quests with 0 actual reward" and leave it there. |

No, it shouldnt be. And it never will be.
Hardcore is something OPTIONAL you choose yourself to make game harder for yourself. |

Why? So you can't visit hideout and empty your inventory? This makes absolutely no sense and has nothing to do with hardcore. Hardcore is a personal choice. You have only 1 life. That's it. That's hardcore. |

hc is too limiting there's a reason vast majority of players don't choose hc in every game that has that option

Your title suggests rebalancing the whole game, but then your specific suggestions seem pretty small and reasonable.
I will add that Settlers and shipping has made HC a lot more reasonable at the start because you are wearing rare items from small shipments as opposed to empty gear slots. It seems a shame its been pushed back to Act 6. I think Acts 1-5 with no gear is more dangerous than anything up to red maps, which feels silly. Difficulty should increase over time, not spike at the very start then decrease by vast amounts because you finally got a small bit of resist gear. |

" playing with friends in maps requires more than 1 portal |
