Spell/Curse casting unreliable

It seems 50/50 whether my Despair curse will cast since the newest patch. As a chaos DoT user I have a huge curse and use it frequently when clearing. The way it is since the latest patch feels horrible since I'm often being charged for the curse and going through the cast animation but no curse is coming out.

Essence drain and Totems are being unreliable with their casting too.

It just makes the experience feel gross.

Something else related to casting just happened to me. I found a staff with Sigil of Power and wanted to use it on weapon set 2. I then set my regular spells on set 1, so it would switch automatically between the two sets. I tested it in the hideout and all was working fine. Then when I entered maps and finally was preparing for the boss fight, I noticed i couldn't swith back to set 1 anymore. Somehow all my skill bindings for set one were removed. Sometimes I believe this game is cursed..
