Item Tier is comfusing

So now you changed item mod ranking whereas tier 1 is the best roll you can get.
Found unidentified tier 2 item earlier which had tier 3 to 4 or 5 mods only. So obviosly no tier 1 (as it used to be).
But after patch this basically means: if you find a tier 2 to 5 item just don't pick it up since it cannot have the best roll mod you can get. And: any "non-tier" item could have better stats than a tier 2 to 5.

Just curious...

How is it confusing?
Tier 1 is good. Tier 9+ is bad. It's not rocket science.

Haha.. yeah.. But what's the use of having tier 2 to 5 drops?
"if you pick me up you are guaranteed to not getting a tier 1 roll"
No idea.. Doesn't make sense to me.

I mean: if it was like: "a tier 5 item cannot have tier 6 to 15 on it", it would make sense becuase it would be something special. But at the moment, it does not.

Low (Tier #) gear doesnt always mean crappy stats, just means the lowest it will roll not ONLY roll. Ive picked up what would be Teir 1 gear, hit it with a scroll and behold a T9 mod. All the tier gear does is cut down on the size of the mod pool it will roll, improving your odds of better stats.

The flipping of the mod tiers makes more sense, its easier to figure out if its a good stat to keep or say screw it. Thats easier than memorizing each mod and its subsequent tiers. 1 being the lowest then going up, when =does it stop, flip it and a child can understand the ranks. Its a universal understanding
Still.. Why would I want to know that an item drop will not have better tier rolls than tier x after identifying it.
That information is totally useless.
Why wouldn't you? It allows for easier loot filtering. If you're looking for items with specific tiers of mods for specific rarities, you can narrow down your hunt. Unless you're in the end game and looking for specific gear to sell, you wouldn't understand.

Unidentified tier 2-5 did not restrict tiers named tier 1 from appearing before. Your understanding of it was wrong. It would cull mods below certain item level requirements. If a “Tier 1” mod from before required a high item level base it could still roll on tier 2. This is even more obvious if you looked at tier 5 unidentified still having former tiers 1-4
Ah ok, thanks. Never noticed a t1 on a t5 item... at least not right after identification.
