XP loss on death is to punishing

I have close to BIS gear this season

I have 100+ divines in the bank

My only selfmade season goal was for the 1st time to try and reach level 100 in a League

I have really given it a try but I am 97 omw to 98 and I played 5-6 hours today and I think I am done for this league

I died 3 times today to "opening strongbox, screen flickers , instant death 77% res, 60% chaos res" and 2 other similar "screen flickers/ 1 sec screen lag" and dead.

Each time I die its 10+ T15/16 fully juiced maps down the drain even with the omen "only" losing 2,5% xp

Meaningful death? Well I alread lost my juiced map, I lost the option to buy the omens from the ritual, I have to redo the map again from start.

I don't really need to lose 10+ maps of progress also from 1 game lag?

It is just not fun and doesn't feel "meaningful" its feels unneccesary punishing at this stage trying to reach level 100

In fact, there are already more than a dozen such topics, you are not the first to pay attention to this.
In my humble opinion, the loss of experience in an online game is a terrible atavism that needs to be removed from the game as soon as possible.
As some forum users write here, the game Diablo 2 was taken as a model for this mechanic.
If this is really so, then the developers apparently did not take into account that D2 is primarily an offline game, in which you can really lose experience due to your own mistake or your computer will suddenly burn out.
In contrast to D2, both parts of PoE are online games and the death of a player is affected by a bunch of factors independent of him, such as: high ping, packet loss, instability of the game servers themselves, lags, loading of network channels, as a result of which the exchange of client packets with the server slows down, and much more.
I myself cannot understand in any way, do the game developers really not know about this?
Maybe they should be offered to attend network administrator courses so that they can finally see the light?
P.S. There is another great thing, like a hitbox, but we'll talk about that some other time. =)

If its this frustrating to gain the final 1-2 levels, why have it as a goal? Wouldnt another less tedious goal be more fulfilling?

(Not trying to argue, just trying to understand the perspective)

I can clear most maps in 2 min

I can clear any boss or event like breach bosses etc. on max level

I have so good gear that my only upgrades which would give 1-2% upgrade is 200+ divines each

So the most realistic goal left would be to reach level 100

And I don't mind the farm that it takes 10-12 maps per 2,5% xp

But I don't find it a good game experience to then lose it all on 1 game server lag or strange invisible 1 shot damage.
