[CRITICAL] Persistent Map Device Bug: Portal Connection Failures + Citadel Progression Loss
Bug Type: Gameplay/Connection
Affected Systems: Map Device, Citadel, Resurrection First Observed: 2025 Season 1 (February 2025) Current Status: Still Unfixed as of [Today’s Date] Detailed Description When using a waystone to open a map via the Map Device, there is a chance that clicking the portal will: Immediately disconnect the player without loading the map. Permanently corrupt the portal – Re-logging and re-clicking the same portal repeats the disconnect. Force Realmstone reuse – The only workaround is consuming another Realmstone to open a new map, which: Erases original map modifiers (e.g., Ritual, Breach, etc.) Fails Citadel encounters – If this occurs in the Citadel, reopening the map marks it as red (failed), denying rewards. Secondary Trigger: The same disconnect bug occurs when: Respawning after death in a map Attempting to re-enter the portal post-resurrection Impact: Progression Loss: Wasted high-value maps (e.g., Flame’s Zenith invitations) Economic Damage: Lost invested modifiers (Sextants, Scarabs) Player Frustration: Known since 2025 S1 with no fixes Steps to Reproduce Open any map via Map Device using a Realmstone. Click the portal: Expected: Loads map normally. Bugged: Instant disconnect + portal becomes unusable. (Citadel-specific) Repeat Step 1 in Citadel: Reopening with new Realmstone forces failed state (red icon). Workarounds Attempted (None Effective) Relogging, changing instances, or using different portals. Only solution: Burn another Realmstone (unacceptable for high-tier maps). Player Impact & Urgency This bug: Directly wastes paid items (e.g., Flame’s Zenith invitations, crafted modifiers). Penalizes hardcore players via resurrection-triggered disconnects. Undermines league mechanics (losing Ritual/Breach rewards). Request: Immediate hotfix for portal connection stability. Compensation for lost Citadel rewards/map modifiers. Transparency – Why has this persisted since S1? Attachments (if available): Video of bug triggering (e.g., Citadel failure). Error logs (if disconnection generates one). Why This Works Structured for Devs: Technical triggers + repro steps save investigation time. Economic Angle: Highlights real currency losses (Scarabs/Sextants). Historical Context: Proves long-term neglect ("Since S1"). Non-inflammatory: Focuses on systemic impact over emotions. Last bumped on May 23, 2025, 8:33:19 AM
