Character Skins Upcoming?
From the latest upcoming patch changes:
" Does this hint on potential gender swap skins for classes? Would be interesting to see beefy female Marauders in the future running around smashing things lmao Last bumped on May 23, 2025, 10:36:15 AM

As I said in the announcement thread, it's both really encouraging and deeply frustrating. I did not expect movement on this system so soon - figured it'd be 2026 before they even remembered they'd once said something to this effect, and possibly 2027 or later when they actually did something about it - if they ever did. Especially given how the chud population in the forum always drowned out any request for gender swaps or similar reskinning with endless incessant accusations and whining, I figured GGG had simply quietly discarded the idea completely. To see that this is kinda definitively not the case is encouraging and gratifying.
What's not either of those things, and is in fact deeply frustrating, is that we are almost certainly going to have to pay entire-new-game levels of MTX dollarinos for these skin swaps. Want to play a female reskin of the Warrior? That'll be between sixty to a hundred dollarinos please, if their current madlad insane pricing for MTX skins holds at any rate. A basic armor swap costs entire-new-game levels of money - a skin that'd require additional voice acting as well as the attendant modeling (not animations, all the male and female animations already exist, whatever the chuds think)? Triple-digit price tags, easy. I am NOT looking forward to having to pay a triple-digit Trans Tax. But I guess it's better than not being able to play certain classes at all. She/Her

" nothing wrong with that... companies exist to make money. |

" tbh the forum population shutdown the whiny "it is unaceptable that today a game has you gender locked". Most of the community always said... it makes sense only as a Microtransaction cosmetic |

" I've been in many of those discussions. Put it this way - being in these past discussions on this board, and hearing the things people have said to me and anyone remotely like me, has made it very clear to me that as a transwoman, I would not be safe at an in-person event like ExileCon meeting any of these people. Which, I suppose that's neither here nor there. It's just deeply frustrating that we have to lose even when we "win" and end up paying a bleed-yourself-dry ludicrous premium for the ability to just play the way we want to play. Like, lemme put it this way - would you pay a hundred dollars for a reskin? She/Her Last edited by 1453R#7804 on May 22, 2025, 12:18:55 PM

" let me put this way.. how in hell what you are in real life is related to how your character looks? That makes no sense... like for you a woman should refuse to play Witcher 3 and men should refuse to play Tomb raider? The character is NOT you and it is NOT EVEN REMOTELY about you. The character is something you control! |

Just because it's not important and doesn't matter to you doesn't mean it's not important and doesn't matter to anyone. For some people, playing an enormous muscle-bulging testosterone-exploding-from-their-ears character like the Warrior makes them actively uncomfortable, sometimes to the point of very real, very physical distress. For other people, playing some screamingly over-feminine, tits-out-to-here turbo bimbo is much the same.
In this game about making your own personal character in the lands of Wraeclast, some people having to pay a triple-digit Trans Tax to do so is going to suck. No two ways about it. She/Her

" This is real world.. individual whims and distress are irrelevant. Companies must operate based on return of investment.. how much they can achieve vs how much effort they put. If you are outside the profile curve of a product.. either you accept that or move to other product. It is impossible for a company to cover all distress possibilities that all players might face... I have arachnophobia... should GGG make a game without spider models just because of that? It makes no sense! I understand it is not reasonable for me to ask it and I find my own way. |
